A story that has continued for over 800 years
Discover the Dome of Semifonte and the Antiquarium of Sant’Appiano
In the Middle Ages there was a castle in Semifonte, loyal to the emperor and enemy of Florence, and there the most important communication routes crossed.
Thus, after a long siege, the castle was destroyed and never rebuilt and on the now uninhabited hill, the chapel of San Michele Arcangelo was built.
Semifonte was a crossroads, it was for many a symbol of belonging, pride and identity.
It still is today and by keeping the past present, we look to the future as a group.
